Dr.Alexander Memorial hospital was started in 1931 under the inspiring leadership of the late Dr.K.T.Alexander who hails from Tiruvalla and whose spirit pervades this institution even today. Though he started the hospital in very poor and humble circumstances, he rose, by dint of hardworks and will power, coupled with God's blessings, to be a renowned doctor in a rural area. His name rose like the mythical bird phoenix from this area to the whole of Kerala and even to neighbouring states.

Dr.Alexander was the recipient of several gold medals, testifying to his great service as an efficient doctor and a renowned social worker. Where systems of Alopathy and Ayurveda failed to cure a number of diseases such as Asthma, Rheumatic Arthritis, hepatitis B, Jaundice, Measles, Epilepsy etc., the system of Homoeopathic treatment administered by Dr.Alexander cured such diseases and won remarkable response from the public. Dr.Alexander was an ardent advocate of homoeopathy and his children and grand children continue to hold up the torch lit by him.
